About The Position

Hubbell is hiring a Sustainability Intern to support our team in creating and executing sustainability initiatives aligned with Hubbell's global sustainability priorities. The Hubbell Summer Internship Program is a 10 to 12-week program providing students the opportunity to gain corporate experience, learn about all aspects of our business, and prepare students with the kind of experience needed to have a rewarding career at Hubbell. The Sustainability Intern will typically have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as the day-to-day initiatives of the Sustainability team, while spending time shadowing actual operations. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which will help them build a strong network within the Hubbell community. The Sustainability Intern will be expected to work full-time (40 hours/week) and will be compensated on an hourly basis. This in-person role (hybrid schedule; T-W-Th required to be in office) will be based in Shelton, Connecticut, where Hubbell is headquartered.

Requirements

  • The student must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Environmental Science/Studies/Management/Policy, Sustainability, Engineering, Business Management/Administration, Finance, Economics, International Business, or related degree)
  • Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to others
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment in both in-person and virtual settings
  • Working knowledge of sustainability concepts
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to synthesize information and experience in developing engaging PowerPoint slides
  • Strong writing skills, e.g., the ability to write compelling storytelling pieces
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and champion new ideas and approaches
  • Previous corporate sustainability internship or project experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Developing a working knowledge of corporate sustainability, spanning climate change, water, waste, circular economy, supply chain responsibility, diversity and equity, community impact, and disclosure/reporting frameworks
  • Learning about Hubbell's current and future sustainability initiatives and priorities
  • Directly contributing to internal reporting and strategy projects, including conducting research/benchmarking, drafting sustainability communications, collecting and analyzing data, organizing employee engagement initiatives, and implementing initiatives
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned
