About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Associate to join the Data Center Power and Control Team in Reno, NV. Under the direction of the Operational Excellence Manager, the Sustainability Associate will support Legrand PAC Operations departments by advancing site-level environmental and sustainability initiatives. The role will focus on site environmental compliance, sustainability programs (energy, water, waste), and environmental reporting. This role is the site subject matter expert for ISO 14001 and ensures all regulatory and corporate requirements are met. The Sustainability Associate, as with all members of the Legrand Team, is expected to promote a positive work environment, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality. The position involves owning and maintaining the site’s ISO 14001 environmental management system, leading sustainability programs and projects to reduce energy, water, and waste, tracking and reporting environmental metrics, and supporting corporate CSR and product sustainability initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, health and safety, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ownership of projects or programs.
  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and sustainability practices.
  • Computer proficient with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams/PowerPoint).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across departments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Display original thinking and creativity; meet challenges with resourcefulness; generate suggestions for improving work; develop innovative approaches and ideas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 (ISO 45001 a plus).
  • Storing & Shipping Hazardous Waste – Ops (RCRA & DOT) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the site’s ISO 14001 environmental management system.
  • Ensure all documentation, procedures, and records are current, accurate, and audit ready.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including corrective actions and closure.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Manage hazardous waste handling, storage, documentation, and shipment coordination (RCRA/DOT).
  • Identify and lead initiatives to reduce energy usage, water consumption, and waste generation.
  • Drive landfill diversion and waste reduction efforts, including hazardous waste minimization.
  • Lead environmental assessments and Kaizen events to implement improvements.
  • Partner cross-functionally (Facilities, Operations, Engineering) to execute projects and secure approvals.
  • Promote a culture of sustainability through training and site engagement.
  • Track and report daily energy usage.
  • Compile and analyze monthly KPIs for energy, water, and waste.
  • Prepare quarterly corporate reports and annual sustainability reporting.
  • Complete customer and regulatory surveys (e.g. RBA).
  • Maintain excel-based tracking tools and support dashboard development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support corporate CSR product initiatives through coordination and data management.
  • Track and support eco-design efforts, including packaging improvements (e.g. single-use plastic reduction).
  • Assist with packaging waste reporting, including data collection, classification support, and reporting.
  • Support Product Environmental Passports (PEPs) through collection and maintenance of product-level data.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and track actions and follow-ups.
