About The Position

The Department of Design and Construction, Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Surveyor to join our Construction Management Unit – Construction Support - SURVEY & INSPECTIONS Team. Under the guidance of a Supervisor, the successful candidate will perform topographical surveys, final measurements and properly document field elevations, slopes, details on sewer, water mains and roadways construction projects for the preparation of As-Built Drawings. The candidate must be able to perform field survey party work, including use of and understanding of most surveying instruments. The Surveyor will also be required to conduct research to prepare final project drawings, including field to finish, using AutoCAD and Carlson. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in the maintenance and guarantee inspections of construction work during the guarantee period for completed work.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in surveying, surveying engineering, surveying engineering technology or in similar surveying-related majors, and two years of full-time satisfactory land surveying experience; or
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university in the surveying-related majors listed in "1" above, and four years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; or
  • A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of full time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; and
  • A motor vehicle driver license valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
