Lochmueller Group is seeking a Survey Technician to support our surveying teams in the Central Indiana area in the collection, documentation, and preparation of field data for a variety of engineering and land development projects. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands‑on fieldwork, problem‑solving, and working outdoors in a team environment. In this position the candidate will: Operates and manages surveying instruments, including prisms, theodolites, and electronic distance‑measuring equipment. Sets up, adjusts, and maintains survey equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Maintains vehicles used by survey crews. Performs land and site surveys, collects measurements, and records data on natural and human‑made structures. Compares survey computations with applicable standards to determine adequacy and accuracy of data. Establishes and maintains grids, horizontal/vertical controls, and benchmarks in accordance with project standards. Conducts research and prepares survey documentation, including topographic maps, parcel plats, drawings, and survey notes. Assists with right‑of‑way documentation, including property research and AutoCAD drafting. Performs physical labor in diverse environments while meeting all safety and OSHA requirements. (Activities include staking, carrying equipment, clearing brush, and walking long distances.) Performs other duties as required.
