About The Position

At RES, we’re looking for purpose-driven individuals who are passionate about restoration and sustainability, and who want their work to make a lasting environmental impact. Our team members go above and beyond, bringing initiative, integrity, and a strong work ethic to every project. Collaboration is key—we thrive on teamwork, open communication, and diverse perspectives. In a field that constantly changes, we value those who are resilient, adaptable, and resourceful in the face of challenges. If you're intellectually curious, eager to learn, and ready to help restore ecosystems and protect natural resources, you’ll find your place here. At RES, we are committed to restoring the balance between people and nature. Our projects improve water quality, restore ecosystems, and support biodiversity across the country. As a Survey Technician I, you will contribute to this mission by supporting land and water restoration projects through accurate and efficient surveying work. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone eager to learn in the field, work with a team, and grow a career in environmental restoration and land surveying. [INSERT TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS AND MAIN PROJECTS] Each week, you’ll travel to various project sites—sometimes local, sometimes across the state or region—including occasional travel to Kentucky and Tennessee. Our crews typically work four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with the opportunity for overtime on Fridays or weekends depending on project demands. Why You’ll Love This Job You’ll be outside, hands-on, and active—helping build something that benefits the planet. You’ll be part of a tight-knit, hardworking crew that values safety, teamwork, and growth. You’ll get exposed to a wide variety of ecological and construction projects with opportunities to learn new tools and techniques. You’ll gain experience in surveying, construction, and environmental work—skills that can take your career in multiple directions. A Day in the Life As a Survey Technician I, you’ll start your week with your field crew, reporting directly to your assigned Survey Crew Chief. Your team functions as a unit—working together to support the Land Surveying Supervisor in collecting the field data that drives our restoration and construction efforts. You'll assist in the collection of a wide range of site data, including topography, environmental features, property boundaries, and engineering information. You’ll use survey tools and methods to capture accurate measurements while learning to identify tree and plant species and navigating a variety of terrain—streams, wetlands, forests, and open fields. When needed, you'll operate or assist with ATVs, UTVs, chainsaws, and hand tools to clear brush and gain access to survey lines. Safety is central to everything we do. You’ll be expected to consistently use proper PPE, maintain a Samsara driving score above 70, and report any safety incidents promptly. After each field day, you'll assist in downloading and delivering field data back to the Land Surveying Supervisor to ensure our projects move forward with precision and professionalism.
