About The Position

Ciorba Group is seeking a motivated and experienced Survey Technician to join our Chicago based team. This role is a hybrid of field operations and technical office data analysis, drafting, and calculations. You will assist in conducting topographic, boundary, and construction surveys while using advanced field equipment and office software to transform raw data into accurate maps and records. This is an ideal role for a professional who enjoys the variety of outdoor field work paired with the precision of technical drafting. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$65,000 annually.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of field and/or office land surveying experience.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
  • You are reliable and maintain daily communication with your team and stay flexible in support of dynamic project schedules.
  • You maintain positive client, vendor, and internal team member relationships.
  • You are detail-oriented and committed to your own professional growth, ideally holding or pursuing an LSIT or CST certification.
  • Proficient in MicroStation or AutoCAD, with a solid grasp of robotic total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as bending, digging with a hand shovel, cutting brush, and carrying equipment/stakes (5-50 lbs.).
  • Must be eligible to drive company or personal vehicles to various jobsites as required.
  • Ability to perform occasional out-of-town assignments as project needs dictate.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Drone/UAS surveying methods and photogrammetry software (e.g., Pix4D, Reality Capture, Global Mapper) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting topographic, boundary, and construction surveys.
  • Perform necessary research, calculations, analysis, and document preparation for upcoming survey field work.
  • Review and process survey results, including field notes, data, photos, plan markups, and structure inventory sheets, to produce accurate CAD drawings, charts, maps, and legal documents.
  • Draft Plats of Highway, survey base maps, boundary and ALTA Surveys and Preliminary Legal Descriptions writing.
