Requirements

  • 0-2 years of experience as a Survey Field Technician or in a related field
  • Familiarity with the basics of surveying instruments and equipment
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles and techniques
  • Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and occasional office environment
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deal with the public or contractors in a friendly and confident manner in a variety of survey situations

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys using various surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS receivers, data collectors
  • Accurately measure distances, angles, and elevations to collect essential survey data
  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment to ensure proper functionality
  • Perform routine calibrations and adjustments to guarantee the accuracy of measurements
  • Work closely with the Crew Chief and other team members to execute survey projects efficiently
  • Assist in setting up and tearing down survey equipment at project sites
  • Download and organize collected field data for further processing
  • Assist in the preparation of survey drawings and reports
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during field surveys to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment
  • Report any safety concerns promptly
  • Participate in site reconnaissance activities to assess conditions and potential challenges before initiating surveys
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of survey activities, measurements, and field notes
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation
