About The Position

PEMCCO is seeking a Survey / Field Data Technician to provide field measurement, survey, and data collection support for trackwork engineering, inspection, instrumentation, and condition‑assessment activities. This role ensures engineering and inspection teams have accurate, reliable field data to support design, analysis, and decision‑making in active rail environments. PEMCCO, Inc. is an integrated Information Technology, Information Management (IT/IM), Systems Engineering, and Technical Services firm supporting infrastructure, transportation, and capital program delivery environments. We assist our customers in delivering mission-critical engineering support, program coordination, data-driven decision tools, and technology-enabled solutions that enhance operational performance, asset reliability, and capital project execution. In support of transit clients, our teams provide multidisciplinary support across trackwork engineering programs, including field inspection, data analytics, construction coordination, and capital program support functions. Requirements

  • High school diploma, technical school, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three (3)+ years of field data, survey, inspection support, or technician experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in outdoor or active project environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on rail, transportation, heavy civil, or construction projects.
  • Familiarity with survey instruments, measurement tools, and field logging practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support field surveys, measurements, and data collection activities for track and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist with documentation of existing conditions, geometry-related observations, field constraints, and access considerations.
  • Support instrumentation setup, field checks, and data capture for condition or performance assessments.
  • Assist with measurement efforts related to rail corrugation, dynamic-force observations, or similar field testing tasks.
  • Maintain field notes, sketches, logs, and photo documentation to support engineering and inspection teams.
  • Support engineers and inspectors with accurate, timely field data needed for analysis and design.
  • Help maintain equipment readiness, calibration awareness, and field documentation consistency.
  • Assist with site access coordination, safety preparation, and mobilization planning.
