About The Position

George F. Young, Inc. (GFY) is seeking a highly motivated Survey Crew Chief to join our growing survey team. As a Survey Crew Chief, you will plan, organize, and direct the work of one or more crew members engaged in surveying to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, mapmaking, land division, titles, or other purposes by performing the following responsibilities and duties: Must be able to read and understand civil engineering and survey plans Must have a thorough knowledge of generally accepted land survey procedures and field execution of work and accurate note-keeping for boundary, topographic and construction surveying Must be able to operate and or direct the operation of an electronic data collector, GPS equipment, optical & robotic total station and digital & optical leveling equipment Must be able to make an informed decision in the field Motivate, train, & lead crew & staff members on proper field procedures

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Willing to travel from time to time
  • Experience with Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Construction Layout, & GPS Surveys
  • High school diploma or an equivalent
  • Minimum 3-years of experience
  • Capable of taking clear, legible field notes
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Able to work outdoors, in various weather conditions and terrain conditions
  • Excellent customer service skills
