St. Johns County residents enjoy a healthy quality of life with many perks including one of the top rated public school systems in the State of Florida, miles of beach shoreline, peaceful estuary scenery of the St. Johns River, long established agriculture and equestrian scene, and the nation’s oldest city, historic St. Augustine. In 2019 St. Johns County was ranked the 10th fastest growing county in the United States showcasing that there is truly something for everyone in St. Johns County! The Surveying and Mapping Division, a division of Land Management Services Department, provides project and geodetic surveying services to various County programs and departments. Project surveying includes boundary surveys, topographical surveys, right-of-way surveys, as-built surveys, construction stake-out, and sketches and descriptions of County owned property. We also assist with asset management programs for our Public Works Department using some of the latest GIS based applications for data collection and database updates. We currently have two three person survey field crews that work Monday thru Thursday 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. The Survey Division has maintained two field crews for many years by increasing efficiency with technology. Each survey field crew consists of a Survey Party Chief, Instrument Technician and a Survey Assistant and we pride ourselves on safety, accuracy and camaraderie among our employees. Our survey crews function as a team and are trained to be highly professional in their duties as we interact with the public daily.
