The Survey Analyst position at Arizona Public Service (APS) involves providing quality control to ensure the accuracy of field surveys and related tasks. This role requires both field and office experience, with a focus on utilizing survey software, AutoCAD, and strong computer skills. The analyst will be responsible for preparing accurate survey maps, resolving boundary conflicts, and maintaining electronic filing systems, while also supporting survey crews with calculations and GIS development.

  • Ensure the preparation of accurate and complete survey maps, exhibits, plats, and written legal descriptions.
  • Review and analyze work of survey crews to ensure correct data collection and adherence to protocols.
  • Analyze title reports and legal descriptions to identify and resolve boundary conflicts.
  • Perform record map and document research to determine boundaries and right of ways.
  • Provide quality assurance and ensure timely document delivery to maintain project schedules.
  • Perform survey/boundary calculations to support survey crews.
  • Maintain electronic filing system and store maps in the department's electronic drive.
  • Perform spatial analysis and assist in GIS development.
  • Six (6) years related experience with a minimum of four (4) years in an electric utility company as Survey Party Chief, Survey/Right-of-Way Representative, or Survey Analyst.
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Registration in Arizona as a Professional Land Surveyor or Land Surveyor in Training is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD and mapping procedures is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of coordinate geometry software is required.
  • Experience with survey data reduction and adjustment, both conventional and GPS, is required.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is preferred.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and technologies as they emerge.
