About The Position

The SURTASS Technical Advisor at Leidos is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and reporting of new equipment installations and upgrades to the SURTASS system. This role requires independent work with minimal supervision, leading technical repair activities, and managing shipboard installations. The advisor will coordinate with ship crews and port services to ensure mission readiness and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in electronic technology or equivalent military class 'C' electronics maintenance school.
• 4 years of experience in electronics maintenance.
• Top Secret clearance.
• Qualified in all SURTASS positions.
• Experience on U.S. Navy electronics equipment.

Nice To Haves

• 600 sea days on the SURTASS program.
• Worked in position under instruction for 2 missions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, execution, and reporting of new equipment installations and upgrades to SURTASS systems.
• Lead technical repair activities on site or remotely.
• Oversee installation and upgrades of SURTASS electronics systems.
• Act as a government representative to direct and approve shipboard installations conducted by other system engineers.
• Direct ship's crew and coordinate port services to support mission readiness.
• Manage daily operations of the SURTASS Operations Center (SOC).
• Ensure all technical problems are resolved or requests for support are transmitted to the program office.
• Train new personnel and provide continued training for experienced personnel.
• Act as the Commanding Officer of the onboard COMSEC account.
