Summary: The Surgical Technologist is that part of the Operating Room team who provides and performs technical skills under the direct supervision of a physician or a registered nurse. This person assists the registered nurse in creating a safe supportive and comforting environment for the patient in surgery.

Requirements

• High School graduate.
• Graduate of approved operating room course for surgical technologist preferred.
• Previous experience preferred but not required.
• CPR Certification
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, good manual dexterity, ability to work as a team member, ability to accept criticism, willingness to learn and cooperate, displays calm in acute stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Patient and families are served in providing direct patient care services.
• Perform duties and conducts interpersonal relationships with co-workers, physicians and other departments in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital.
