Requirements

  • Current CST certification upon hire and maintain current
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) upon hire and maintain current

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from a surgical technology program accredited through ARC/STSA

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor junior surgical technologists and assis t with their training and development , demonstrate proper techniques, reinforce sterile procedures and share best practices.
  • C ount and track sponges, needles, and tools to prevent retained items and accurate counts of all items used in the surgical procedure.
  • Set up the operating room by sterilizing and arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment while preparing patients for surgery through proper positioning and sterile draping.
  • Assist during surgery by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgical team’s needs while tracking instruments and sponges.
  • Support postoperative care by applying dressings, transporting patients to recovery and cleaning and restocking the operating room.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols ensure safe handling of specimens and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with surgeons , nurses , anesthesiologists and sterile processing staff while communicating effectively in high-pressure situations.
