About The Position

Surgical Technologist – Acute Care Operating Room Location: Hyannis, MA Assignment: Travel Contract Pay Rate: $2,156.50 per week Schedule: Day/Evening shifts, 40 hours/week Rotating 8- or 10-hour shifts (9:00 AM–5:30 PM or 9:00 AM–7:30 PM) No weekends or call on initial contract Extended contracts may include minimal weekend and backup/overnight call Role Summary Surgical Technologist supporting a high-volume Acute Care Operating Room. Works under the supervision of surgeons and RNs, maintaining strict sterile technique and infection control while assisting in all phases of surgical procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology / OR program (civilian or military)
• Active national certification (NBSTSA or NCCA-accredited equivalent)
• Current BLS certification
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, sterile technique, and infection control
• Effective English communication skills

Nice To Haves

• Orthopedic experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform scrub technologist duties for all services and specialties
• Prepare OR with instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies per AORN standards and surgeon preference cards
• Provide intraoperative assistance (instrument passing, retraction, suturing, counts)
• Prepare and label medications on the sterile field as directed
• Operate sterilization equipment and handle surgical specimens
• Assist with patient transport, positioning, and OR room turnover
• Support team operations and orientation of new staff as needed
