About The Position

Corewell Health is offering up to $10,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity! The unit is a Level 3 trauma center with 15 operating rooms in the Magnet Designated Corewell Health System. It is a center of excellence for bariatrics and total joints, with approximately 40% of cases comprised of total joints and elective spine cases, and the remaining 60% comprised of General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic and ENT surgeries. Blodgett Surgery is a high-tech environment with 3 Davinci robots, a Mako robot, Mazor and Stealth technology. The OR is a team environment, where Nurses, Surgical Technologists and Surgery Support Staff work together to care for patients and support surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout the surgical procedure. The Blodgett OR team also serves as the patient advocate while the patient is under anesthesia. OR staff must use precise, critical thinking, often within a short time frame, while keeping cost effective quality care and patient safety at the forefront. Blodgett Hospital is set within a quiet, beautifully maintained property of mature trees and healing gardens, with a history of providing high quality, compassionate and personalized medical care since 1846. It has earned a reputation for excellence as a community and teaching hospital, providing patient-focused inpatient care in 248 private patient rooms and outpatient services for medical, surgical and specialty care, achieving high rates of patient satisfaction. The Surgical Technologist maintains responsibility for preparation of the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, making appropriate responses as needed. They are responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures. They may also serve as a Preceptor.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology OR the successful completion of an Accredited School of Surgical Technology
• Surgical Technologist Experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience)

Nice To Haves

• AHA OR ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 Days of hire

Responsibilities
