About The Position

Purpose The Surgical Techn ologist (certified or licensed) serves as a member of the surgical team, responds to patient needs, prepares / maintains resources (e.g., equipment, instruments, supplies) & provides safe, quality health care services & / or assistance for surgical procedure s in accordance with level of experience, education , policies / procedures / protocols & standards. Functional Role (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression) Tech / S upport III – skilled : Licensed or certified role (direct healthcare) that s upports the total peri-operative process; Provides intra-operative patient care to patients a s directed b y the Director of Nursing / Medical Director / Quality Committee(s) ; Anticipates surgeon’s needs in the use of medical supplies, instrumentation & equipment availability & readiness; Maintains a safe & clean operating room suite ; As sists & / or ensures documentation & detailed records are kept ; P erforms essential duties & techniques appropriate to role / function / procedure ; Participates in quality improvement processes ; May serve as a resource (lead), role model & / or mentor.

Requirements

  • H igh S chool diploma or GED
  • Current certification from accredited Surgical Technology program
  • At least o ne (1) year experience in a health care or military medical setting
  • Meets requirements for applicable state(s) of engagement
