About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for an experienced Surgical Technologist to join the Ambulatory Surgery Center team located in Maple Grove, MN. This is a 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period), benefit-eligible. The Surgery Center is open Monday- Friday between the hours of 6:30am and 4:00pm. Shift start time varies based on need. The Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center is a partnership with University of MN Physicians where you will find more than 20 medical specialties in one convenient location. Our patients have access to primary and specialty care for pediatric and adult patients, which also includes a cancer center, a breast center, and an ambulatory surgery center. The center has four ORs and four procedure rooms. Job Description: In this role, you will act as a scrub person during surgical and endoscopic procedures, providing high-quality patient care services for a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric. You will work in close collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of care, while adhering to standards of clinical practice and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an approved Surgical Technology program
  • BLS for health care providers
  • 2 years of experience working as a surgical technologist
  • Must be available to work Monday-Friday, day shifts

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a scrub person during operative/endo procedures.
  • Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and provide appropriate instruments, sutures, and specialty items.
  • Maintain aseptic technique throughout all sterile procedures.
  • Assist in the proper identification and handling of specimens.
  • Ensure accurate sponge, sharps, and instrument counts are completed.
  • Act promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Adjust care to reflect the developmental level and cultural differences of the patient population.
  • Communicate respectfully and maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Engage in patient education as needed, based on an assessment of patient and caregiver learning needs.
  • Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in fostering a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
