About The Position

Since its opening in 1899, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital has been a committed leader in improving health in Macomb County and surrounding areas. The hospital's specialty care includes nationally recognized heart care, Level II trauma services, a primary stroke center, comprehensive cancer care, inpatient rehabilitation and a birthing center. With the 2023 addition of a 225,000 square foot, five-story tower, nearly 80 percent of its 366 patient rooms are private. SIGN ON BONUS ELIGIBLE-$7000.00 GENERAL SUMMARY: Under direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for the handling of surgical instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned surgical procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the assigned surgeon and surgical team members. Also provides service support related to patient preparation, patient transport, and assisting surgical care team with specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months specialized patient care training in the armed forces required.
  • Specific knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room (OR), in addition to knowledge of surgical procedures, practices and techniques in providing patient care and assisting surgeons in the O.R.
  • Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not required.
