About The Position

The Surgical Technologist provides safe and efficient care to the surgical patient under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in collaboration with the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist functions primarily in the scrub role and is responsible for selecting, preparing, and maintaining instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. The Surgical Technologist possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique and is able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. The Surgical Technologist utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team. Our state-of-the-art hospital in Jacksonville includes 34 operating rooms that include an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite. Check out this brief video featuring an experienced Surgical Tech working in Rochester, Minnesota. https://youtu.be/1opSxJpKMkA?si=OyBMVDmNkSi_n8rP We are currently hiring into the following specialty services: Cardiothoracic Surgery General Surgery (GI/Bariatric) Neuro Surgery Orthopedic Surgery Vascular Surgery Candidates may be considered for placement into either the Surgical Technologist or Advanced Surgical Technologist role based on years of experience, specialty training, and meeting the qualifications of the higher-level position. The Advanced Surgical Technologist expands on this foundation by supporting complex procedures, such as cardiothoracic, transplant, neurosurgery, and vascular and by contributing to protocol development, specialty instrumentation management, and workflow optimization for advanced surgical service lines. Required to provide coverage to other surgical services based on practice needs and competency outside of their primary service.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited or military surgical technology program.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required within one year of hire date and maintained thereafter.
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
  • Current BLS certification required upon hire.
  • Certification through NBSTSA required within one year of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Vascular, Urology, General, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, ENT/Pain, Plastics, Eyes, Cardiovascular experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
