Surgical Technologist
About The Position
Performs pre-surgical scrub techniques/procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures. o Scrubs hands and arms, and dons gown and gloves. o Sets-up operating room tray, arranging instruments, sponges, sutures, catheters, drains and dressings. o Prepares operating room for surgery by obtaining and setting-up supplies and equipments. o Prepares patient for surgery in prescribed manner to provide a surgically sterile field. Assists Staff Nurse, as directed, during surgery, to include but not limited to: o Passing/counting instruments, sponges, dressings and with other routine operating room functions, as required. o Operating peripheral equipment, including but not limited to lights, tables, and suction machines. o Planning and labeling specimens obtained during surgery. Performs post-surgical care of the operating room: o Disposing of soiled linens, gloves, and debris, and o Preparing instruments for sterilization, in accordance with established procedures. Performs inter-operative related duties:: o Maintenance of instruments and equipment. Reports instruments and equipments that are in good working condition. Performs inter-operative related duties: o Transport patients to and from the operating room; and o Maintains appropriate records. o Assists in the replenishment of operating supplies.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- Successful completion of the Surgical Technician Program
- One (1) year of acute care work experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Demonstrated ability to do arithmetic and communicate in oral or written English
