About The Position

Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center – Cypress is hiring a PRN Surgical Technologist. Welcome to Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center – Cypress. Florida Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center – Cypress is seeking a motivated PRN Surgical Technologist to join our team. The Surgical Technologist ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures, assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, and assists circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment. They are responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operative with the circulating nurse, collect and properly handle specimens, and prepare and maintain instruments including high-level disinfection and calibration of the endoscopy scope. The role also involves gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants, assisting in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated, retaining all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of the specimen with the surgeon, and transporting all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. The technologist assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets, interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background, and uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. They assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, participate in emergency preparedness drills, follow all equipment and safety guidelines, and are responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. The Surgical Technologist serves as a resource to other members of the health care team, attends in-services, conferences, and meetings as required, and communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staff, patients, and employees. Maintaining patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy is essential. The role also requires maintaining designated certifications such as CPR, acting in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center, and complying with Policies and Procedures and adhering to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.

Responsibilities
