About The Position

Located in a tight-knit community in Kings County, Adventist Health Hanford has been serving the Central Valley since 1965. We are comprised of a 173-bed hospital and many outpatient clinics with primary and specialty care services. Hanford residents are proud of their city's historic charm and family-friendly atmosphere. Within an hour's travel time, Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks can be enjoyed. Job Summary: Facilitates physician's performance of invasive and therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly monitoring the maintenance of the sterile field.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required
  • Tech in Surgery (NCCT-ST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST): Required

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant acute care experience: Preferred
  • National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certified: Preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room.
  • Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure.
  • Anticipates surgeon’s needs of additional supplies.
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
  • Prepares sterile dressings.
  • Secures dressings after incision closure.
  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
  • Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Helps drape sterile field.
  • Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover.
  • Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
