About The Position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist for the Operating Room at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center - East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This role is eligible for a $6000 New Hire Sign-On Bonus, along with a generous relocation bonus up to $5,000! As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. This role will handle CV cases, therefore prior CV scrub expertise is required. Schedule: This position will be working 0.8 FTE (80 hours every two weeks). Shift: Nights, 10:30PM - 7AM, Monday-Thursday. Surgical Tech Shift Differentials: Evening Hours $2.00/hr, Night Hours $3.00/hr, Weekend Premium $2.00/hr. The East Bank Campus is a teaching hospital and has 24 newly renovated Operating Rooms. Our Operating Room is performing an average of 60 cases per day. We provide innovative surgical suites, including a hybrid suite and intraoperative MRI suites, for adult patients needing surgical intervention. Requirements

  • Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)
  • Current OR cardiovascular scrub experience

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
  • AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
  • 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

Responsibilities

  • Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
  • Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
  • Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
  • Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
  • Anticipating the surgeon’s needs.
  • Following appropriate action in emergency situations.
