About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to support Operating Room services in a fast-paced surgical environment. The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety and procedural efficiency by maintaining sterile technique, preparing the operating room, and assisting surgical teams across multiple specialties. This position follows hospital policies and AORN Standards of Care .

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Surgical Technology / Operating Room Technician program
  • NBSTSA certification required (or must be obtained within 12 months of graduation and maintained thereafter)
  • Certification must be issued by an NCCA-accredited organization and recognized by the ACS and AST
  • Current BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Orthopedic surgical experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and supplies
  • Maintain a sterile field in compliance with hospital policy and AORN standards
  • Perform scrub technician duties for a variety of surgical procedures and specialties
  • Assemble, adjust, and operate sterile and non-sterile equipment as required
  • Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and surgical assistants
  • Assist during procedures by holding retractors, cutting sutures, and participating in sponge, needle, and instrument counts
  • Prepare, label, handle, and dispose of surgical specimens according to protocol
  • Assist with application of surgical dressings
  • Ensure availability of procedure-specific instrumentation using surgeon preference cards
  • Assist with patient transport, positioning, and transfer to post-anesthesia care
  • Operate OR equipment including lights, suction, sterilizers, and diagnostic tools
  • Safely prepare and label medications under the direction of an RN or surgeon
  • Support room turnover, restocking, and preparation for subsequent cases
  • Assist with orientation and training of new OR staff as assigned
