About The Position

LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Tech Certified Cardiovascular to join our team. This position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000. The Surgical Tech will be responsible for scrubbing cases, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting the surgical team in various capacities. Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program - Required
• Basic Cardiac Life Support - Required
• Certified Surgical Technician - VA - Required
• 3+ years of experience in Surgical Technology - Preferred

Responsibilities

• Scrubs cases as it relates to the unit scope of care.
• Dons appropriate attire required by hospital and OSHA policies.
• Creates and maintains a sterile field.
• Anticipates needs of the surgeon and precepts staff and students.
• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical anatomy and understanding of instrumentation and procedures.
• Labels all medications on the sterile field.
• Organizes the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for the day.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with circulating duties.
• Applies principles of standard and transmission based precautions.
• Helps maintain a safe environment for personnel and patients.
• Communicates effectively with staff, peers, physicians, and other departments.
• Mentors new personnel and prepares and presents in-services.
• Maintains current BLS for Healthcare Provider training.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
