About The Position

The UW Medical Center-Montlake Operating Rooms have an outstanding opportunity for a Surgical Technologist Lead. WORK SCHEDULE • Full-Time / 40 hours per week • Day Shift (10-hour shifts) POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Serve as a clinical resource for RN 2s, Surgical Technologists, Hospital Assistants, PCTs and EVS staff • Direct room set-ups for the following day and ensure that the room has been properly cleaned and all equipment is in the room and placed is in its proper location for the scheduled case • Be responsible for the care, maintenance and proper storage of OR equipment • Provide teaching or arrange in-services for learning needs for equipment and OR furniture (i.e. OR beds) • Participate in the coordination and orientation of new RNs, Surgical Technologists, Hospital Assistants, PCTs and EVS Staff PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Plan, organize, and perform as a surgical scrub technologist (as needed for emergent cases), including the collection and preparation of equipment, instruments, and supplies necessary for surgical procedures • Review Preference Cards to ensure items are readily available for the surgical procedures • Assist with cleaning the OR, including mopping the floor, wiping down all surfaces, disposing of trash and waste, and instrument cleaning and processing • Train, assign, provide direction, and check the work of RN 2s, Surgical Technologists and HAs in the preparation of operating rooms for surgical procedures; provides direction to PCTs, Hospital Assistants and EVS Staff • Manage the daily schedule on assigned shift • Serve as a Clinical Resource and role model for following UWMC policies and procedures for room turnovers, terminal cleans and use of equipment for all shifts • Provide technical guidance for staff in resolving problems concerning equipment functioning and interpretation of policies and procedures ABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKE UW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest. Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program AND three years of experience as a Surgical Technologist OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Registered by the State of Washington as a Surgical Technologist
