Location: Logan Health Medical Center – Kalispell, MT Schedule: Day Shift – 8 Hours | 32 hours per week | January – May 2026 Ready to take your final semester of surgical technology training to the next level? Logan Health is seeking two (2) driven and passionate students from Missoula College, Great Falls College, or Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) to join our 2026 Surgical Technologist Internship Program. This immersive, paid internship is your bridge from classroom learning to a rewarding career in the OR. Application Timeline: Application Window: Now through Friday, November 21, 2025 Interviews: Weeks of November 24 and December 1, 2025 What You’ll Do: As a Surgical Technologist Intern, you’ll blend hands-on learning with real-world surgical experience: Clinical Rotations: Complete your required rotations from January – May 2026. Scrub Tech Training: Spend 24 hours/week in the OR, learning side-by-side with experienced surgical technologists. Department & Hospital Training: Dedicate 8 hours/week to Central Sterile, core technician roles, perioperative support technician training, and hospital orientation. Compensation & Commitment: Pay Rate: $19/hour | 32 hours/week Employment Agreement: 2-year commitment to Logan Health upon internship acceptance Career Transition: Successful completion leads to a full-time Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) position in the OR Sign-On Bonuses: Eligible after year 1 and year 2 of employment

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of college
  • Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited surgical technology program (CAAHEP or ARC/STSA) at Missoula College, Great Falls College, or FVCC
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software
  • Desire to gain professional experience in the surgical field
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism in all situations
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven critical thinking skills in high-pressure environments
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-starter mindset
  • Experience managing sensitive information with tact and diplomacy
  • Minimum of one (1) year of college required.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a nationally accredited surgical technology program.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited surgical technology program (CAAHEP or ARC/STSA).
  • Must possess a desire to gain professional experience within the related field of assignment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surgical procedures by selecting and setting up equipment, instruments, and supplies
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure safe working condition of all instruments
  • Assist the surgeon during procedures, anticipating needs and efficiently passing instruments
  • Participate in surgical counts and ensure accurate documentation
  • Apply dressings and assist with patient transfer to recovery
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain preference cards and supply lists
  • Assist with lab specimens, room cleaning, and equipment maintenance
  • Exhibit knowledge of intra-operative medications and procedures
  • Demonstrate professionalism, customer service, and teamwork at all times
  • Participates in the planning process for surgical procedures.
  • Accurately selects all equipment and supplies needed for surgical cases.
  • Accurately sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and solutions as needed for procedure.
  • Utilizes proper application of the aseptic technique when opening surgical supplies to the sterile field, and while organizing the sterile supplies and equipment for procedures.
  • Evaluates all instrumentation and technical equipment to assure it is in proper and safe working condition.
  • Communicates faulty or broken instruments to Sterile Processing.
  • Properly utilizes surgical instruments to assist the surgeon during the procedure.
  • Participates in counts prior to, during and the end of a procedure per department procedures.
  • Provides care to the patient in the application of dressings and while transferring the patient to the recovery area.
  • Checks assigned specialty non-stock and stock supplies to ensure an adequate quantity is available for procedures per department protocol.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders in maintaining and updating the preference cards/pick lists.
  • Performs administrative duties, advises leadership of status changes, and works collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exhibits knowledge of medications used during the intra-operative period.
  • Anticipates the surgeon’s needs and reacts accordingly.
  • Efficiently passes the appropriate instrumentation, sutures and supplies to surgeons and/or assistant.
  • Assists as directed in cutting sutures and keeping track of items such as sponges, needles, etc.
  • Assists with the preparation and disposal of lab specimens as directed.
  • Assists team members with cleaning of room.
