Assists surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures operating suite is adequately prepared for procedure. Monitor PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all surgical instruments. Handles medications under the supervision of the surgeon or nurse. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities. Nurses involved in the care of orthopedic and spine patients must adhere to defined educational and competency requirements in compliance with DNV Orthopedic and Spine certification. Nurses providing care to orthopedic and spine patients must complete specialty-specific education and validate competency annually. Nurses are expected to participate in continuing education activities relevant to orthopedic and spine care, including updates on clinical guidelines, emerging technologies, and best practices. Educational areas may include, but are not limited to: Musculoskeletal system anatomy and physiology ERAS Pain management strategies Mobility and safety Prevention of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), infection, and pressure injuries Glucose management Compartment syndrome
