About The Position

The Surgical Technologist I performs various tasks supporting perioperative services, including preparation of operating room, transport of patients, supplies, equipment, and specimens. This position assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team by preparing patients for their procedures, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining environmental cleanliness before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position, also, provides technical assistance to surgeons by anticipating and passing instruments, assuring the functioning of instruments, and keeping instruments free of debris during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents, and other solutions. Saturday & Sundays with call rotation) 7a-7:30pm (Full time option available)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Indiana Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)

Responsibilities

  • Arrange instrument trays, prepare sterile drapes and solutions, and help the surgical team put on caps, gowns, and gloves.
  • Assist with prep of patients, as needed.
  • Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants.
  • May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.
  • May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment, and package specimens to take for laboratory analysis.
  • Clinic responsibilities may include rooming patients, taking vitals, orders, and routing phone calls
