About The Position

The position is for a part-time Surgical Technologist in the Labor and Delivery department at Atrium Health Pineville. The role involves working 24 hours per week, specifically during night shifts (7 PM to 7 AM) with a rotating weekend schedule. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on eligibility. The Surgical Technologist will assist in surgical procedures, ensuring a thorough knowledge of aseptic techniques and the organization of supplies and instruments before, during, and after surgeries. Responsibilities include monitoring surgical supplies for sterility, documenting sterilization activities, and participating in educational opportunities to enhance competency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or successful completion of military training program for Surgical Technology or Operating Room Specialist required.
  • Current certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of aseptic technique and its application.
  • Assists in obtaining and organizing supplies and instruments prior, during, and after surgical procedures.
  • Assists Registered Nurse circulator in preparation of patient, assembly of supplies, instruments, equipment, and proper disposition of all specimens.
  • Monitors surgical supplies for sterility prior to use and ensures that supplies are used judiciously.
  • Documents charges accurately and appropriately.
  • Monitors and documents sterilization activities for completion.
  • Attends in-services/staff meetings and participates in Performance Improvement Process.
  • Participates in educational opportunities to increase competency and meet personal needs and goals.
  • Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and standards.
