About The Position

Develops competencies in and demonstrates ability to perform the duties of a Surgical Technologist (ST). Functions under direct supervision of the Surgical Technologist trainers progressing to performing ST duties and ST decision making. Completes a training program from an accredited technical school and demonstrates progressive competencies to include collaboration with surgical team members to provide procedural care for patients and support for surgeons, insuring that the goals of the surgery team are carried out. As a member of the Operating Room (OR) healthcare team, supports the surgical team in the OR with preparing the OR room with needed supplies and equipment, provides support to the OR team during surgery by obtaining needed supplies/instruments to provide patient care in the OR.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited surgical technologist program.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • If a current Froedtert Health employee, must have at least 1 year of employment with Froedtert Health and must be in good organizational standing.
  • If an external candidate, must have at least 1 year of consistent employment, preferably in a healthcare setting.
