Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Provide patient care under the direct supervision of the Physician and Registered Nurse. Prepare the operating room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Assures sterility and working order of equipment and instruments prior to the case. Perform as a primary scrub person, handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure while applying principles of sterile technique. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization, reporting any mechanical difficulties as needed. Demonstrates knowledge of decontamination, washing, assembling, wrapping and sterilizing instruments according to guidelines. Contribute to expected patient outcomes in accordance with policies, procedures, established standards, and administrative policies. Requires call with a 20-minute response time.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
BLS certification is required within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
National Surgical Tech license for Certified only (upon hire).
