Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: The Obstetric (OB) Surgical Technologist provides patient care under the direct supervision of the Physician and the Registered Nurse. Demonstrate responsibility and accountability in selecting, assembling, testing, and operating equipment and instruments by policies and procedures. Prepares the operating room/delivery room and checks to assure readiness for patient, with attention to sterile technique. Perform as a primary scrub tech handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures and deliveries while applying principles of sterile technique. Anticipates physician's needs and requests additional items from the circulator. Performs sterile table and room turnover following the procedure. Perform additional patient care assigned by the RN. Respond to on-call obligations with a 30-minute response time.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program
  • NBSTSA or NCCT Certified Surgical Tech
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
