Surgical Technologist - Cardiovascular Surgery (Open Heart)
About The Position
SUMMARY:# This position is filled by a Surgical Technologist who, as a result of on the job training and clinical experience in surgical technology, possesses the knowledge and technical skills necessary to assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. May help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeon's assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. Responsible and accountable for direct patient care for assigned patients in the perioperative unit. Must be proficient in a wide variety of high level surgical technologist skills. Responsible for adhering to all standards of perioperative care and promoting a team effort among co-workers. Responsible and accountable to know, own and energize the vision, mission, values and standards of the hospital.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Baxter Health's surgical technologist training program or 1 year experience as a surgical technologist.
- BLS required
