About The Position

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Operating Room Surgical Technologist (CVOR Tech) for a 13-week travel assignment. The Surgical Technologist will assist in a variety of cardiovascular surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon and Registered Nurse. This role requires advanced knowledge of sterile technique, infection control standards, and cardiovascular surgical instrumentation to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-performing operating room environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited civilian or military Operating Room Technician/Surgical Technologist program.
  • Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from a nationally accredited certifying body recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists .
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum experience in Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and sterile processing standards.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
  • Maintain a sterile environment in accordance with hospital policies and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Standards of Practice.
  • Perform scrub technician duties for cardiovascular and other surgical procedures.
  • Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
  • Pass instruments and sterile supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist with sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
  • Prepare, handle, label, and transport surgical specimens according to protocol.
  • Assist with application of surgical dressings.
  • Ensure surgeon-specific instruments and equipment are available per preference cards.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transport to and from the operating room.
  • Operate sterilizers, surgical lights, suction devices, and diagnostic equipment as required.
  • Prepare and safely label medications under the direction of the surgeon and RN.
  • Participate in OR turnover, cleaning, and restocking between cases.
  • Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.
  • Assist with orientation of new OR staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to maintain specialty service equipment and instrumentation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and continuing education programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
