About The Position

The Surgical Technologist Apprentice, under supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist, performs basic patient care procedures to support the unit/clinic health care team. Our mission is to cultivate a better-prepared new graduate Certified Scrub Technician through an immersive apprentice program with an experienced mentor relationship with Certified Scrub Technologist preceptors. We aim to improve the new graduate transition. By the end of the Scrub Technician Apprenticeship Program (ST-A), participants will be able to apply and demonstrate an understanding of basic CST concepts and skills, including patient care, infection control, increased confidence, clinical judgment, and critical thinking skills and apply these skills in the OR setting.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in the CWI Surgical Tech Program.
• High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care procedures under supervision.
• Support the unit/clinic health care team.
• Participate in the Scrub Technician Apprenticeship Program.
• Demonstrate understanding of basic CST concepts and skills.
• Apply skills in the OR setting.
