Westlake Medical Campus offers medical care close to home for routine or urgent health issues as well as outpatient surgery at the Fairview Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center. This ASC is a friendly, safe, and competent facility in which to receive quality outpatient surgical procedures by board-certified general surgeons. Our facility has four operating suites, which encompass a broad range of surgical services, and we are proud of our workplace and newly remodeled environment. In this role as a Surgical Technologist, you will perform a variety of tasks, such as checking supplies and equipment, setting up sterile tables, passing instruments to the surgeon and sterilizing instruments after procedures. This position offers a unique way to gain hands-on experience in an operative environment while making a lasting difference in the lives of patients and caregivers every day. Ultimately, surgery could not be possible without your support.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through CCAAHEP or ABHES OR Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C) through the National Center for Competency Training (NCCT) OR completion of a military Surgical Technology Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities

  • Perform scrub functions and assist in circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Set up the sterile table and ensure appropriate supplies, drugs and equipment are available.
  • Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery.
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
  • Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure.
  • Participate in the intraoperative 'timeout.'
  • Collect, identify and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give specimens to circulator for disposition.
  • Coordinate surgical and clinical schedules and studies for section.
  • Answer and perform patient phone calls and relay information to/from the provider.
  • Assist with marketing and practice development.
