About The Position

The Surgical Technologist-CVOR-Acute is a skilled member of the allied healthcare team who provides clinical support and/or operating room assistance under the supervision of a licensed Cardiovascular Surgeon. The Surgical Technologist-CVOR works with a wide variety of healthcare professionals to deliver direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular procedures or surgery. The Surgical Technologist-CVOR will function in the scrub role and will monitor and maintain aseptic technique, equipment, supplies and instruments. Provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient and staff by working in accordance with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) standards of practice and by adhering to MCHS policies/procedures, universal precautions, and sterile technique.

Requirements

• Graduate of a surgical technologist program or military equivalent.
• Two years of recent experience as a surgical technologist.
• Two years of clinical experience in an operating room or related healthcare experience may be considered.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association required within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Surgical technologist advanced degree.
• Two years’ CVOR experience.
• Competent in functioning independently in the scrub role in multiple complex cardiovascular procedures.
• Successfully completed certification exam.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association at time of hire.
• Surgical Technologist certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support and operating room assistance under the supervision of a licensed Cardiovascular Surgeon.
• Deliver direct patient care before, during, and after cardiovascular procedures or surgery.
• Function in the scrub role and monitor aseptic technique, equipment, supplies, and instruments.
• Ensure a safe and efficient environment for surgical patients and staff.
