Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Current BLS
Excellent verbal communication skills in English
Take Call and live within 30 minutes of the Hospital.
ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
Meets the requirements for certification (CST) by the Association of Surgical Technologists
OR
For current CNAs, LPNs, or RNs willing to complete six months of on-the-job training with in-house education to gain a Surgical Technologist (ST).

Regular and predictable attendance is required
Regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist
Frequently required to perform moderate to complex manipulative tasks
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision
Frequently able to move/push/pull up to 50 pounds and lift and carry up to 35 pounds
Must have good hearing
Must comply with HIPAA and patient privacy
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required in accordance with facility standards

Responsibilities

Preparing the surgical patient, including positioning, prepping, and draping
Assisting with instruments, sponges, sutures, drains, and dressings
Performing scrub duties including table set up, instrumentation, first assisting, and counting of instruments before and after operation
Assisting the Operating Room RN in providing patient care pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively
Preparing specimens as needed
Observing incisions for bleeding and anticipating the need to control bleeding
Assisting with lifting and transporting of patients
