The Surgical Technologist is an allied health professional competent in surgical procedures and an integral part of the surgical care team. The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision and delegation of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist is an expert in theory and application of aseptic and sterile technique, knowledgeable of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and surgeon preferences to properly prepare the sterile field, supplies, instrumentation, and equipment. During the surgery, the Surgical Technologist provides appropriate instrumentation and assists through a combination of knowledge, participation, anticipation, and critical thinking. The Surgical Technologist works alongside and assists the circulating nurse as well as other members of the surgical team.
Surgical Tech Position Summary
Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Reports to the Director of OB.

Requirements

• The Surgical Technologist is an expert in theory and application of aseptic and sterile technique, knowledgeable of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and surgeon preferences to properly prepare the sterile field, supplies, instrumentation, and equipment.
• During the surgery, the Surgical Technologist provides appropriate instrumentation and assists through a combination of knowledge, participation, anticipation, and critical thinking.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 6 months of prior experience in another facility.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of a surgical technology program preferred.
• BCLS preferred.
