About The Position

District Surgery Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surgical Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide direct support to the surgical team during outpatient procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, efficient workflow, and patient safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred).
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
  • Current CPR certification (BLS) required.
  • 1+ year of surgical technologist experience in an outpatient or hospital setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, instruments, and surgical procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain focus and professionalism under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • 1+ year of surgical technologist experience in an outpatient or hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgeries, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready for use.
  • Assist surgeons and other surgical team members during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.
  • Operate and monitor surgical equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and sterilized.
  • Handle surgical specimens according to facility protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized operating room before, during, and after procedures.
  • Participate in patient positioning, draping, and maintaining sterile techniques.
  • Monitor and track surgical instruments to ensure none are left behind in the patient’s body.
  • Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room.
  • Document patient care activities accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with all healthcare regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of patients and their families for procedures, explaining the process and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth workflow, ensuring patient safety at all times.
  • Adhere to infection control practices and safety standards in accordance with healthcare protocols.
