Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required
  • BLS CPR certification is required
  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program, including clinical experience, is required
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Surgical Technician is required
  • Experience required: Total Joints, Ortho Spine, Neuro, ENT, Ophthalmology (vitrectomy), robotics

Nice To Haves

  • Certified by The Association of Surgical Technologists, The National Board of Surgical Technology, or The Surgical Assisting Liaison Council Certificate of Surgical Technology is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in the Operating Room to assist the surgical team, such as scrubbing on operative procedures, obtaining and preparing instruments and equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment under the direction of an RN.
  • Perform all patient care activities as defined in the skills competency model with compassion, dignity, and respect.
  • Maintain aseptic technique 100% of the time.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in gowning and gloving.
  • Consistently prepare appropriate supplies and equipment based upon procedural and/or surgeon preference list.
  • Check equipment and instrumentation for proper function prior to procedure.
  • Perform as first scrub.
  • Prepare room for next patient.
  • Prepare instruments for decontamination.
  • Maintain safe and clean environment 100% of the time.
