About The Position

Operating Room - Nursing - Surgical Technician Basic Purpose of the Job Performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the operating room. Performs similar duties in other areas of the hospital as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduate from a formal, accredited Surgical Technician training program or equivalent preferred.
• Two (2) years of experience as a Surgical Technician preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification recognized through American Heart Association (AHA)
• Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy related to procedure.
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques used by various surgeons for various procedures.
• Able to assemble and troubleshoot all equipment as necessary for procedure.
• Ensures all necessary equipment is in the room prior to the start of a case, including nonnarcotic medications (e.g., Lidocaine).
• Able to safely operate all electrosurgical equipment, diagnostic equipment, microscopic laser equipment, video equipment, and disposable equipment, as well as equipment unique to each specialty area.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of asepsis and consistently maintains sterile technique
