Overview The Surgical Technician I will function as a member of the patient care team, under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or registered nurse. This position provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub before, during and after At Children’s Mercy, we are committed to ensuring that everyone feels welcomed within our walls. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Requirements

Associate's Degree
Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program preferred or HS diploma or equivalent Required and 1-2 years experience
Surgical Technologist experience required
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Preferred
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Preferred

Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency as a Surgical Technologist
Demonstrates the knowledge of risk and safety issues and uses measures to ensure optimal outcomes.
Demonstrates actions that exhibit accountability and professional judgement.
