About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician specializing in Open Heart Surgery and General Surgery procedures for our Clackamas surgical facility. In this role, you will serve as a critical member of the surgical team, performing the scrub role during complex surgical procedures while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and aseptic technique. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure seamless surgical operations and optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology
  • Surgical Technologist Certificate required at hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire
  • Proven experience in Open Heart and/or Cardiovascular Surgery procedures
  • Surgical Technologist Certificate (required at hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required at hire)
  • Open Heart/Cardiovascular Surgery experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and aseptic technique adherence

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years of scrubbing experience in all surgical procedures in inpatient or ambulatory OR settings
  • CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) certification or specialized cardiovascular surgical experience
  • Demonstrated experience with complex surgical cases and high-acuity patient populations

Responsibilities

  • Perform scrub role during open heart, cardiovascular, and general surgical procedures
  • Comply with all shift, unit, and organizational policies and procedures
  • Participate in accurate pre-operative briefing and time-out protocols to ensure patient safety
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of procedure types to plan and execute appropriate surgical setups
  • Apply principles of aseptic technique; evaluate sterile packs and supplies for integrity and readiness
  • Maintain a well-organized, sterile surgical field while observing strict sterile technique at all times
  • Perform all necessary intra-operative procedures correctly to ensure patient safety and surgical success
  • Apply principles of correct body alignment in patient positioning and transferring
  • Execute sterile core activities including case cart management, supply restocking, and inventory reordering
  • Initiate and facilitate efficient room turnovers between surgical cases
  • Obtain and demonstrate skills for population-based and culturally sensitive patient care
