About The Position

Works under a surgeon's supervision before, during and after various types of surgeries. A surgical assistant's duties may include: ... Moving patients into the operating room and positioning patients before surgeries. Ensuring that the room remains sterile. Under the supervision of a seasoned Surgical Technician or Scrub Nurse, the Surgical Technologist Extern follows established procedural guidelines in the preparation of sterile supplies and equipment used in the surgical procedures, performs appropriate room duties involved with direct patient care, and functions as a member of the operating room team. Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to provide care and/or service appropriate to the level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients' families. PRN Status Clause: PRN / “as-needed” means you are not guaranteed a fixed schedule or hours. You work when they have needs in the schedule. You must be available to work at least 12 hours every two weeks (bi-weekly minimum), as specified in your PRN Commitment Agreement. Your actual hours will depend on department needs, not a set schedule. You may be asked to pick up extra shifts to cover gaps (like call-outs or shortages). Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with American Heart Association (AHA)
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist curricula
  • Must be available to work at least 12 hours every two weeks (bi-weekly minimum), as specified in your PRN Commitment Agreement.
