About The Position

The Surgical Technician - Certified plays a critical role in supporting surgical teams by preparing operating rooms and ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use. The technician collaborates closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures. They are responsible for adhering to strict protocols to prevent infection and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Ultimately, this role contributes to the seamless execution of surgical operations and the overall quality of patient care within healthcare facilities across the United States.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from an accredited program.
  • Valid certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal surgical technology training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a hospital or surgical center environment.
  • Experience working in a Maternity Department.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of various surgical specialties and instrumentation.
  • Additional training in patient safety and infection control.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes according to the specific requirements of each procedure.
  • Assist surgical teams during cesarean sections by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating the needs of surgeons, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained before and after procedures.
  • Monitor and manage surgical supplies inventory to ensure availability and proper storage.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to protect patients and staff from contamination and injury.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient positioning and preparation for surgery.
  • Document surgical procedures and maintain accurate records of instrument usage and sterilization processes.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to perform patient care and assist with various tasks.
