Job Summary and Responsibilities Surgical Technologist Responsibilities: The Surgical Technologist performs essential tasks and functions as an integral member of the surgical team, including: Operating Room Preparation: Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly and safely. Prepares the operating room and the sterile field for surgical procedures by organizing sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment using strict sterile technique. Surgical Support: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology as it relates to the patient and surgical procedure. Independently performs tasks within the sterile field. Acts in the role of a scrub nurse in accordance with the patient's care plan and departmental staffing requirements. Anticipates both usual and unexpected events during surgical procedures and responds efficiently. Aseptic Practices & Safety: Adheres rigorously to aseptic practices, providing and maintaining a safe and sterile environment. Patient Care & Departmental Duties: Assists with patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs additional duties according to department-specific expectations as identified and assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): Required upon hire.
  • Acceptable certifications include: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO (must state "Professional Level-with AED") American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
  • Certification in Surgical Technology

  • 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
