About The Position

Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the OB Tech assists in patient care activities, maintains department stock, and performs surgical technician duties in the scrub role. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned. 1. Scrubs for cesarean section surgical procedures. Assists with vaginal deliveries and or surgical repair of episiotomies. 2. Identifies patient needs/physician preferences for surgical supplies/equipment/instruments. 3. Performs shift specific assignments according to the OB Tech responsibility sheet. 4. Maintains the principles of aseptic technique in preparing for vaginal/surgical deliveries 5. Performs technical skills in accordance with policy and procedure. 6. Inventories and stocks department supplies and equipment. 7. Coordinates with Surgical Sterile Processing Department and Materials Management to order and distribute supplies and reconcile patient charges. 8. Utilizes positive communication skills to effect conflict resolution and teamwork. 9. Contributes to cost effective patient care by monitoring use of time, equipment, and supplies. 10. Complies with safety policies and procedures in order to provide a safe environment for employees, patients, and visitors. 11. Demonstrates necessary flexibility in regards to changes in Hospital or Department activities. 12. Completes C-Section charges in the computer correctly and within department guidelines. 13. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. 14. Actively participates in achieving departmental goals. 15. Performs other duties as assigned. The position is a dual job working in MB and LD.

Requirements

Two (2) year experience as a Scrub Technician in comparable job setting within the last 5 years preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards - Required
High school education or GED - Required

Nice To Haves

California Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Preferred
Completion of Surgical Scrub Technician program - Preferred
